Acid attack horror: Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries – police lock down road

The shocking incident happened in Ogden Lane in Newhey just after 8.15pm on Sunday.  Police said a man aged in his 30s had a substance thrown into his face which it believed to be acid.

He was rushed from the scene to hospital suffering injuries to his face and arm.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A police investigation has been launched with a cordon in place at the scene.

Pictures taken this morning show several police cars stationed in the usually quite lane.

The images also show an environmental clean-up team at work in the road.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to a report of an assault on Ogden Lane in Newhey just after 8.15pm last night.

“A man in his 30s had a substance, suspected to be acid, thrown in his face.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital where he remains with injuries to his arm and face.

“The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and he remains in hospital.”

He added that an investigation is ongoing and a scene is in place while officers carry out multiple lines of enquiry.
