A queue has formed to join 'The Queue' to see the Queen lying in state

A queue for the queue to see the Queen lying in state has begun, after mourners were told the waiting time had reached full capacity.

Possibly the most British thing ever has happened, and Royal fans waiting in line to see the Queen have started another queue.

This is the queue to join the queue – dubbed the Elizabeth line – that is five miles long, and stretches all the way from Westminster Hall to Southwark Park.

It comes after people this morning were warned to not try and join the initial queue for at least six hours as it had reached capacity.

In a tweet, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport said: ‘Southwark Park has reached capacity. Entry will be paused for at least 6 hours. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

‘Please do not attempt to join the queue until it reopens. Check back for further updates.’

Vanessa Nathakumaran, 56, was first through the doors of Westminster Hall on Wednesday.

‘I really really want to be part of it’, she had told reporters. ‘I don’t want to miss it in case… they said they are probably going to control the crowds if [the queue] gets too long.’

Anne Daley, proudly wearing a Welsh rugby top and large hat, was second through the doors of Westminster Hall.

The 65-year-old from Cardiff had been desperate to attend to ‘represent Wales’, she said.
