A quarter of UK adults are now fully vaccinated against Covid
A quarter of adults in the UK are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the latest official figures show.
More than 13 million people have received both jabs after a record number of second doses were delivered over the last week.
The latest data comes as people aged 42 and over are being invited to book their first dose from today.
Today’s figures are for vaccinations reported up to and including April 26, showing a total of 13,201,811 people have received both jabs.
This amounts to the equivalent of 25.1% of the UK adult population.
Wales has administered the most second doses to an estimated 27.8% of adults, followed by England (24.9%), Scotland (24.9%) and Northern Ireland (24.5%).
In the week to April 26, the UK administered just under 2.8 million second jabs – the highest number given in any seven-day period since the start of the vaccine rollout.
This compares with just under 3.7 million second doses in March and just 321,607 in February.
Second doses of coronavirus vaccines must be administered no later than 12 weeks after the first.
NHS England today dropped its vaccine age threshold on its booking system for the second time this week, after those aged 44 and over were invited from yesterday.
