80 firefighters tackle huge inferno near homes with 'explosions heard'
Firefighters are continuing to battle a huge blaze that ripped through an industrial estate in West Yorkshire last night.
The fire is affecting water supply in the area with many residents waking up to low pressure or no water at all.
Yorkshire Water apologised to customers, saying the problems were because ‘the fire service is in the area tackling a large fire’.
The inferno broke out at the warehouse complex off Dale Street, Wakefield, shortly after 8pm on Wednesday evening.
Around 80 crew members were called to the blaze, which sent huge plumes of orange smoke billowing into the sky.
The fire has completely gutted the building, destroying two businesses – a car shop and a concrete factory.

Locals said they heard the sound of ‘explosions’ as the flames tore through the building, which is near many residential homes.
One local said she believe fireworks had been set off before realising the industrial estate was ablaze.
A fierce crackling sound can be heard in dramatic footage of the fire.
Residents were told to keep their windows closed and stay away from the area, with road closures put in place.
However, one local claimed many people were driving to the area to see what was going on.
Jacklyn Ellis, who lives in one of the many houses close to the fire, told Yorkshire Live: ‘I was just putting the baby to bed when this is what we see.
‘People are blocking the drive to watch what’s going off and more are people walking around than on a busy day.
‘I’m scared for anyone close by and hope everyone stays safe and smart.
‘People are still driving down the road, over the fire hoses to just be turned around. People should avoid dale street if they can.’
The battle against the blaze continued on into the night.
In an update at around 2am, the local fire service said six pumps and one aerial were still in attendance dealing with incident.
The road reopened in the early hours of this morning but the fire remains ongoing, according to Yorkshire Live.
There are no reports of injuries or anyone being hurt.
