The Supermac’s network of motorway plazas last year contributed to the group enjoying record profits and revenues.

That is according to MD of Supermac’s, Pat McDonagh, who was commenting yesterday on new accounts showing that pre-tax profits at Supermac’s (Holdings) Ltd last year increased by 8pc to €23.7m, after a surge in revenues.

The group enjoyed the jump in pre-tax profits after revenues increased by 9.5pc, to €172m from €157m.

Numbers directly employed by Supermac’s at the end of last year totalled 1,720.

In an interview, Mr McDonagh said that last year was a record performance for the group.

He said: “We are very happy with it, but that is last year and you have to drive on.”
