Aldi takes on M&S by launching cheaper lookalike version of famous Easter egg
Easter might still be a long way away, but we don’t need an excuse to start getting excited about chocolate.
And if you’re already ready to start stocking up on the Easter chocolate, Marks and Spencer have just started selling a very intriguing Easter egg, and instead of opting for the traditional seasonal design, it’s in the shape of a dinosaur.
A hollow milk chocolate dinosaur called Spiketail, the edible reptile also comes in his pack alongside some speckled chocolate dinosaur eggs, so you don’t have to miss out on all egg-shaped treats this Easter.
Having also featured on Marks and Spencer’s shelves over the past few years, news that the character is back in the fancy supermarket was spotted on social media.
Bargain hunters on Facebook shared a picture on the page ‘ Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK ‘, which has since racked up a lot of excited comments from Brits who want to get their hands on the statement Easter egg before the big day.
However, lots of people have also mentioned that Aldi are selling a similar version for under £3 – half the price of M&S’.
Made from milk chocolate, Aldi’s ‘Danny the Dinosaur’ hollow chocolate character will set you back £2.99, or you can get his mythical friend ‘Sparkle the Unicorn’ instead.
For an extra £2, you can get a soft toy version of the adorable (if not very Eastery) characters, with each toy coming with a hollow chocolate egg containing mini eggs within, so they don’t have to give up all the sugar rush.
For something a little smaller, both characters are also available in the form of chocolate Easter Lollies for some bite size loving for 99p a pack.
