Trump's niece warns of 'dangerous months ahead' as president 'plans coup’
Donald Trump’s niece has warned of ‘dangerous’ months ahead, claiming the ‘desperate’ president is ‘planning a coup’ as Joe Biden closes in on the White House.
The ‘flailing’ US leader stunned the world on Thursday with an astonishing rant fueled by a conspiracy theory that claims the Democrats have ‘rigged’ the US election – despite no evidence of foul play.
Biden took the lead in key battlegrounds states Georgia and Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon, with the US election result hanging in the balance three days after the public cast their votes.
His niece Mary – known for writing a scathing memoir about how her family created ‘the world’s most dangerous man’ – has said he will never get over being a ‘loser’.
She told MSNBC: ‘Donald has never been in this place before. There’s nobody to bail him out. Nobody to buy him out.
‘He’s desperate. He’s flailing. And there’s nothing he can do legitimately except watch this play out helplessly.’
She continued: ‘I think based on what he said, that’s a pretty good indication of what we could be in for especially if the Republican leadership continues to do nothing.
‘This wasn’t just Donald obfuscating or lying. This was Donald talking about an attempted coup.
‘The leader of a country trying desperately to delegitimise an election. It’s obscene and somebody’s got to step in and stop him.’
When questioned on what the president’s mood is likely to be, Ms Trump said her uncle would be in an ‘uncontrollable rage’.
Asked how he would live with being ‘fired’ by the American people, she claimed he ‘would not get beyond’ the experience.
She said: ‘What is going to exacerbate his loss is the fact that the Republicans look as though they may keep the Senate, and they’ve gained seats in the House, so he cannot avoid but experience this as a repudiation of him. As a rejection of him.
‘And he is not going to get beyond that and it’s going to be a very dangerous couple of months.’
The Associated Press claims Biden has got a total of 264 electoral college votes and puts Trump on 214, with 270 needed to win the race. Other outlets have not called Arizona for Biden, putting the Democrat candidate on 253.
At least seven major TV networks cut off Trump during his White House speech last night in which he accused the Democratic Party of ‘stealing’ votes through ‘corrupt’ mail-in ballots.
His unprecedented calls to ‘stop the count’ have spurred hundreds of supporters to gather outside tabulation sites.
Election officials in several states have expressed fears about the safety of their workers amid a stream of threats and protesters.
