Moment woman hurled her dog off balcony to try and 'protect' animal from cops
A suspected criminal was filmed hurling her pet German shepherd off a motel balcony – before implying that she’d done so to save the animal from cops.
Allison Murphy, 35, threw the dog, named Miracle, over the second-floor landing at the motel in Daytona Beach, Tampa, on Tuesday. She was caught on a deputy’s bodycam opening the door to her room with Miracle on her arms, and tossing the pet over the side of the balcony while stunned cops cried out in protest.
Moments later, deputies from Volusia County Sheriff’s Office pinned Murphy to the floor of her room and restrained her, as she said: ‘You can’t kill dogs.’ Murphy was warned she would be tased if she continued to resist attempts to arrest her, and calmed down shortly afterwards.
Deputies were originally called to the motel after Murphy allegedly attacked a maid and threatened to throw herself off its second floor balcony. Miracle landed on her feet, and managed to avoid being seriously-injured.
She was taken to a veterinarian, where an x-ray found a sewing needle embedded in her thigh.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office later shared a photo of the cheerful-looking dog after rescuing her.
Miracle is being cared for by a shelter, with Murphy arrested for felony animal cruelty and resisting arrest.
