Police say an 11-year-old girl and her 76-year-old great-grandfather who were reported missing Monday night have been located safe and sound.

The Miramichi Police Force says extensive searches were conducted for Chloe Burke and Joseph Doyle. Police believed they were last seen in Craigville and that Doyle may have been confused and unaware of his surroundings.

In a tweet Tuesday morning, the Miramichi Police Force stated the pair had been located safe and sound in the Caraquet area.

They are thanking the public for their “vigilance and information, as it was instrumental in their safe return.”
