Man arrested after leading cops on high speed chase

Don’t sleep on Indiana cops’ get-up-and-go.

An Indiana man was arrested early Thursday morning after revving the engine of his 2002 Acura all the way up to 140 mph and weaving his way through traffic in an interstate highway police chase, authorities said.

Lorenzo Gagliano, 20, was surprised to find the trooper in pursuit managed to catch up to him, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

The trooper clocked Gagliano humming along on I-80/94 in Gary, Ind., at a speed of 116 mph in a 55 mph zone about 2:30 a.m., police said. Gagliano increased his clip, and began zipping in and out of the light early morning traffic, as he led on the cop on the freeway chase.

After an almost eight-mile pursuit, the trooper caught up Gagliano, and the Dyer, Ind., resident was arrested and taken to Lake County Jail, according to Indiana State Police.

Gagliano was charged with resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, speeding, unsafe lane movement and failure to signal.
