Homophobic bride sacks make-up artist after finding out she’s gay

A make-up artist was sacked by a bride after she found out she was gay.

The Texan cosmetics expert was praised for the polite way she handled the bride's rejection.

The bigoted woman wasn't just content with telling Kristian Cardenas why she didn't want her to do her makeup – she also chose to lecture the professional about homosexuality.

The bold bridezilla even asked Kristian to let her know if she "changes her mind" about being gay in time for her wedding so she could book her services after all.

Kristian's social media posts about the exchange went viral, after she revealed the messages to shine a spotlight on the kind of discriminations LGBTQ people face in day-to-day life.

She posted themessages as the community around the world celebrated Pride Week.

The exchange begins with the bride telling Kristian she had done a friend's makeup and quoting her costs.

But then the bride says: "I have a few questions I was wondering if you could answer."

"Are you gay?" Kristian replies: "Yes ma'am I am."

She adds: “I’m sorry, but what does that have to do with your wedding or my services?”

The bride says she “doesn’t want a gay person doing her wedding”, adding that she couldn’t tell if Kristian was gay or not from her photos.

Kristian opts not to engage, instead politely wishing the woman a nice day.

But the bride isn't finished.

She goes on a lengthy diatribe criticising the complete stranger's sexuality, asking how a Latina woman could be gay, calling being gay a "sin", and telling Kristian: "I will pray for you my friend."

“I’m sorry that you’ve chosen a path that’s going to send you straight to hell,” the bride continues.

“I think you do beautiful make-up but I just can’t have someone who’s gay being a part of my special day.”

Her sign-off attracted mirthful responses on Kristian's social media, as the homophobic bride finishes her unsolicited lecture with one final, hopeful request.

“If you at any chance change your mind about being gay let me know please so I can book you.”

Kristian posted screenshots of the messages on Twitter and Facebook in viral posts shared thousands of times.

She wrote a post encouraging others to learn from the bride's bigotry: "Openly sharing who I am with the world is my choice; a choice I will never apologise for.

"I love what I do and who I am. Today I was taken back a little bit, and I doubted if I wanted to continue doing hair and makeup if this is [the] response I'm going to get for being who I am.

"Homophobia is real, and with it being pride month I feel like the comments get worse. I'm sharing this today to say, please be kind to everyone.

"If someone doesn't have the same views as you, opinions, or whatever it may be just respect them. Don't hate them for being different."
