Young Princess Charlotte has paved way for rule change that benefits royal women
Princess Charlotte paved the way for a groundbreaking rule change which has since benefited her cousins who are born into the royal family.
The daughter of Kate Middleton and Prince William became the first female royal to benefit from The Succession to the Crown Act (2013), which prevents younger brothers from overtaking their older sisters.
Thanks to Charlotte, six, Zara and Mike Tindall's daughters Mia, eight, and three-year-old Lena will be able to inherit the crown before their younger brother Lucas.
On March 21, the family will celebrate a milestone as their youngest child Lucas turns one, reports Hello.
The act will enable Mia and Lena to retain their places in the line of succession, with Mia currently being 22nd in line and Lena listed as the 23rd.
It was reported that the pair moved further away from the throne after the births of the Duchess of Sussex and Princess Beatrice's daughters last year.
Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are set to celebrate their first mother's day this year following the birth of their daughter Sienna in September.
Similarly to the Tindalls, if they were to give birth to a son in the future then Sienna would remain above him in the line of succession.
Fortunately, Charlotte, Mia and Lena have been able to benefit from the rule change after other female royals sadly missed out.
This is because the act only applies to children born after October 28, 2011.

Prince William ‘lowest I’d seen him’ after Meghan and Harry Oprah interview, says pal
Other royals such as Princess Anne is unfortunately placed further down than her younger brothers Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
The Queen's only daughter stands in 17th place at this time and is behind Lady Louise Windsor.
If changes would have been applied when Anne gave birth in 1950, then her children Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall would be much higher up compared to their cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who are listed as tenth and 12th.
