Young man shot ‘multiple times’ as armed police swarm UK city street

A young man has been taken to hospital after being shot 'multiple times', say police.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was taken to receive urgent medical treatment following the incident on Wednesday night.

Paramedics and police were called to Copthorne Street in Longsight, south Manchester, after reports that a man had been shot.

Medics raced to the scene to treat the victim, believed to be aged in his 20s.

He was rushed to the hospital, police confirm, but no further details about his condition have been released at this stage.

Greater Manchester Police detectives have since launched an investigation and no arrests have been made so far.

A large police cordon remains on the scene and extends to neighbouring Brynton Road and Meldon Road.

Armed police were seen patrolling the area on Wednesday night, and multiple police vehicles were also parked in the vicinity.

Forensic investigators arrived a short time later and could be seen laying out markers as they assessed the scene.
