WWE legend Triple H hails Brit star Danny Burch as ‘stand-out talent’

WWE legend Triple H has hailed British star Danny Burch as one of NXT's top performers as the Londoner finally begins to steal some of the company's spotlight.

Burch, 38, is a relative veteran of the squared circle with a career closing in on two decades under his belt.

He toiled for many years with considerable success in the European independent circuit, before venturing Stateside and beginning a second stint with WWE in 2015.

But despite an impressive spell, his consistent performances were enough to net him a full-time WWE deal.

Since then he's been a big part of the NXT brand, and currently makes up one half of their reigning tag team champions.

Ahead of Burch's appearance at NXT's Takeover: War Games event this coming weekend, Daily Star spoke to Triple H, the creator of NXT and WWE's Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development.

The iconic former world champion lauded the contributions of the man who has, up until now, been in the shadow of former NXT UK Champions and Burch's fellow Englishmen, Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, when it comes to earning rave reviews.

“Danny has always been one of those guys to me that looks the role and in many ways is the role," said Triple H, real name Paul Levesque.

He added: "He has a believability to himself and his work.

"A lot of times there are talents that stand out as being more dynamic, flashy or whatever that is.

"That consistency, though, there are a lot of times there's something to be said for that.

"Danny is an amazing in-ring performer and a technical guy, he can do it all, it's just sometimes that performers like him tend to float under the radar because they're always consistently good.

"They always deliver but they're always delivering on something for somebody else that has more flash, more pizazz and more ways to captivate someone's attention."

While the likes of Adam Cole and Pat McAfee will undoubtedly be the standout performers and the ones grabbing headlines at War Games, Burch will put in a shift that's every bit as valued.

"That long-term consistency, in today's world at times I think that's negated and that's not a good thing," adds Triple H, himself a larger than life, headline performer in his heyday.

"People used to use the term 'mid-card for life' and things like that, (but) so many amazing, Hall of Fame level, legendary, iconic performers were never 'the guy.'

"That is a phenomenal place and a value, so when you talk about Danny Burch to me, he's an extremely valuable performer.

"I look at him and I think 'I wish I could have a lot of people who were that dedicated, that professional, that polished.'

"I can't say enough things about him, but he's one of those guys that will fly under the radar right until he doesn't."
