The oldest person in the world has died at the staggering age of 119 years and 107 days.
Kane Tanaka was born on January 2, 1903 and was confirmed by Guinness World Records in 2019 as the oldest living person.
She died of old age at a hospital in Fukuoka city, western Japan, on Tuesday April 19 according to Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
And amazingly despite her longevity, during her life, she had been partial to chocolate and fizzy drinks, NHK said.
She also woke up at 6am everyday and was still learning, studying subjects like Maths in her afternoons.
Kane was reportedly an expert at classic board game Othello and would routinely beat staff at her nursing home.
The year she was born was the same year the Wright Brothers conducted their first controlled flight of a motor-driven airplane.
She grew up on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, born the seven child of her parents Kumayoshi and Kuma Ota.
Her family actually claim she was born on December 26, 1902. They say she was born prematurely and thus the family delayed the process of recorded the birth as they didn't know whether she'd survive.
In 1922 she married her cousin, Hideo Tanaka, with whom she had four children – two daughters and two sons. Hideo died in 1993 aged 90.
She leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Kane's death means that French-born Lucile Randon is now the oldest person in the world at 118 years and 73 days.
