World's biggest Primark opens TODAY in Birmingham with hundreds of shoppers set to descend for Disney zone and Harry Potter world
Eager shoppers are queuing outside the world's biggest Primark as it opens in Birmingham today.
Around 5,000 people are expected to descend on the new store today, which will feature a pizza restaurant, a Disney cafe, a beauty bar and even a Hogwarts Wizarding World.
The queue began at around 6.50am with people desperate to be the first through the doors ahead of the shop's 10am opening.
At 160,000 sq ft, it's so big that it will have water fountains dotted through it, in a nod to the brand's focus on new environmentally friendly shopping conditions.
But it will also feature a range of amazing in-store experiences – alongside its usual bargain clothing range and beauty collection, of course.
HARRY POTTER AND DISNEY
It has also announced there will be a "Hogwarts Wizarding World", which is sure to send all Potter fans wild.
Long-standing Primark customers will know the brand has been collaborating with Harry Potter for years and now, the "Harry Potter experience" will offer fans the chance to shop all of their favourite magical merchandise in one place.
There's also a Disney cafe, with an "interactive game zone" and an incredible Disney-themed menu preparing hot and cold food all day, including Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles.
And the fun doesn't stop there – Primark has dedicated an entire "shopping area" to Disney, where shoppers can find everything from clothing to toys, accessories, homeware and make-up.
Eat great food, recharge and have fun
Cosmopolitan claims the Disney cafe of our dreams will also feature "waitresses dressed as Princesses".
But, if the Disney cafe isn't for you – fear not.
CAFES AND RESTAURANTS
The store also has two other restaurants – The Mezz, which serves freshly baked pizzas and locally-inspired street food and the Primarket Cafe.
It's the retailer's first own-brand cafe which uses only Fairtrade certified coffee beans.
The eco-friendly restaurant donates five per cent of every kilo of coffee sold back to the coffee bean growers and takeaway cups are also compostable.
Following in the footsteps of other cafe chains, customers will get 10p off when they bring their own reusable cup.
The environment-friendly theme doesn't stop there, either.
FREE WIFI
Primark is also running a recycling scheme at the Birmingham store, allowing customers to recycle pre-loved clothes and shoes from any brand.
There will also be free Wi-Fi, charging points and water fountains dotted around the store, with all bottled water being sold in recyclable packaging.
Earlier this week, certain members of the public were given the first chance to see inside the store.
One visitor said: “No expense has been spared – it’s going to take on the Bullring as the city’s number one shopping destination.
“It’s an amazing shop compared with what was here before.
“The new Disney cafe has even got interactive tables for children to play with.”
The store also features a Custom Lab – allowing customers to print bespoke and personalised T-shirts.
One visitor said: “You can get official Disney printed T-shirts, with children’s sizes just £5 before you start to add your own text below an image of your favourite character.
“It’s the same with official Barcelona T-shirts, which could be 30 or 40 euros abroad but which I think will be less than £10 here.”
BEAUTY BARS
And when shoppers are exhausted from their day out at Primark, they can unwind in one of two beauty bars.
The high-street giant has teamed up with London blow dry bar Duck & Dry to offer incredible in-store beauty services.
Duck & Dry Xpress offers a blow dry for between £13-£17 – almost half the price of Duck & Dry's luxurious in-salon services.
Customers can choose from six different looks which take just 18 minutes – bouncy, straight and wavy, plus three up-do designs with braids.
There's also a Duck & Pluck Xpress stand, which offers threading, tinting and lash applications, while Duck & File Xpress provides manicures and pedicures with either polish or gel.
There's also a barbers, fronted by hairdresser Joe Mills, offering cuts, shaves and facials at bargain prices.
Primark’s Director of New Business Development, Tim Kelly said: “Our customers can expect a great experience at Primark Birmingham High Street.
"They can spend time with friends and family, eat great food, recharge and have fun, and find everything under one roof including Fashion, Beauty and Homewear – all at an amazing price.
"We’re proud to bring this great store and everything it has to offer, to Birmingham.”
The store will open at 10am today.
Earlier this week, we told you Primark is selling a mermaid swim outfit for just £10.
They’ve even launched Friends-inspired duvet covers, blankets AND pyjamas.
And we showed you the world’s biggest Primark will have a Disney cafe featuring ‘Mickey Mouse-themed food’ and ‘waiters dressed like Princesses’.
