World War 3 fears ERUPT as Hezbollah claims to have doubled its missile force in one year

Iran could retaliate against Israel and US warns expert

The Lebanese terrorist group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, said he had the capability to hit anywhere in Israel with the missiles. The Iran-backed group has previously threatened to use the weapons against air force bases, oil refineries and the Israeli military’s headquarters in Tel Aviv.

During a televised interview, Mr Nasrallah said he would take revenge for the killing of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps commander, Qassem Soleimani.

Mr Soleimani was killed by an American drone strike in Iraq nearly a year ago.

Mr Nasrallah said: “That revenge is coming no matter how long it takes.”

When Mr Soleimani was killed, experts warned that it represented a dramatic escalation in the conflicts between the US and Iran.

Philip Gordon, a White House co-ordinator for the Middle East and the Persian Gulf in the Obama administration, said the killing was little short of a “declaration of war” at the time.

Mr Nasrallah also said the terrorist group would retaliate to any attacks on its bases in Lebanon.

He said: “All the drills and measures the Israeli is taking on the borders are because he is aware that we will respond.

“The Israeli is in a state of confusion and recognizes that the resistance missiles can reach accurate goals in any place inside the occupied territories.”

During the interview, Mr Nasrallah also claimed that America, Israel and Saudi Arabia are making plans for his assassination.

He claimed the US Central Command Mark Miley’s recent visit to Israel was “evidence” that America is plotting his assassination.

The terrorist leader also blasted President Donald Trump as “crazy” and “angry”.

He warned his followers to take caution during Mr Trumps last month in the White House.

Mr Nasrallah said: “The resistance axis should be cautious throughout these couple of weeks so it wouldn’t be dragged into an uncalculated confrontation.”

The exact number of precision weapons owned by Hezbollah are not known.

Last year, the UK-based think-tank Bicom estimated that the group acquired a number ranging from a few dozen missiles up to 200.

Mr Nasrallah also claimed the group had many secrets that Israel did not know and which are kept by a “very tight circle”.

In an address to President-elect Joe Biden, Mr Nasrallah said Iran would not discuss the conflicts in the region or negotiate with America on behalf of its allies.

He added that Iran would only talk to the US about the Iranian nuclear deal, from which President Trump withdrew.

On Friday, Hezbollah warned that the possibility of war with Israel still exists.

In statements issued by the group’s executive council Hashem Safi Al-Din, it said: “The existing equation with the Israeli enemy is to target and respond to aggressions, which keeps the enemy in a state of constant alert, and if we are able to keep them in a state of fear and anticipation, then we will be relieved of their heinous crimes.”

The Iran-backed terrorist group has been called a sworn enemy of Israel.

The group has had various confrontations with the country, including a full-scale war in 2006.
