According to Israeli Channel 13 TV, the rockets were from Lebanon. But the Mayor of the Israeli town near the Lebanese border has confirmed there were no casualties during the incident.
According to the Israeli military, the three rockets landed in the Mediterranean Sea.
This comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu killed 16 members of the Hamas military wing in an airstrike on Gaza on Wednesday.
The Israeli Prime Minister said: “We’ve killed senior Hamas commanders, including the chief of their Gaza brigade, and this is only the beginning.
“They will be dealt blows they never even dreamed of.”
Hamas confirmed a commander’s death and the loss of “other leaders and warriors” and said in a statement: “Thousands of leaders and soldiers will follow in their footsteps.”
Israel and the Hamas organisation have engaged in several wars of varying intensity over the years.
The most serious outbreak of fighting since 2019 between Israel and armed factions in Hamas Islamist-run Gaza was triggered by clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police at Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Monday.
Israel and Lebanon have been engaged in a series of conflicts over the years, which peaked in the 1980s.
Israel invaded Lebanon twice during the country’s 1975-1990 civil war to battle Palestinians who launched cross-border attacks.
In 2006, Israel and Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group fought a 34-day war which ended in a draw.
As of 2015, the situation remained generally calm, despite both sides violating the ceasefire agreements.
The US has pushed for negotiations to resolve the disputes and has brokered two Gulf Arab states to establish full ties with Israel but still no success.
Earlier this week, Hezbollah raised its level of readiness in southern Lebanon to 100 percent for the first time since Israel’s war on Lebanon in 2006.
A source said: “Hezbollah has raised the level of readiness in southern Lebanon and in Quneitra across all regions, formations and military classifications, and summoned some of its troops.”
The source continued: “The Israeli army manoeuvre simulates a major war on Israel from the southern and northern borders including the Sinai desert in parallel with protest movements that may erupt in the West Bank and at home.”
Sergei Vershinin, a Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, called on Israel on Wednesday to “immediately” stop all settlement activities in the Palestinian Territories, RIA news agency reported.
