World first as 140 million-year-old fossilised ‘tiny’ dinosaur prints found
A historic discovery has been made after 140-year-old fossilised dinosaur footprints have been found in an unlikely location.
In total, 10 prints have been found in a giant sandstone bed deep in the Phu Faek Forest Park in the Na Khu district of Thailand.
Experts confirmed that the prints are between 21cm and 30cm, ranging from 17-31cm wide, local news reports state.

Officials from the Department of Mineral Resources are claiming that the dinosaur that made the imprints was possibly a small meat-eating dinosaur, measuring around two metres tall.
It is also thought the beast was about five metres long, too.
The prints have been aged to around 140 million-years-ago.
According to the Thai PBS news outlet, it is the “first find of this species in Thailand”, but the exact species has not yet been named.
Work is now underway to to protect and preserve the dinosaur footprints, with several outlets reporting that the area has been closed off temporarily to allow work on them to take place.
The forest itself is known to be a hotspot of dinosaur discoveries, with a very similar one being made nearly 25 years ago.

According to the experts at Tourism Thailand: “In November 1996, there are tourist were having lunch there and they noticed strange footprints in the middle of a rock terrace of Huai Ngao Du, at Phu Faek foothill, Phu Phan mountain range.
“They later informed geologists who came to survey the site.
“There, they discovered seven footprints of meat-eating dinosaurs, assumed to live there around 140 million years ago.”
It is thought that only four of the seven prints found in 1996 are still there for public viewing as erosion of the ground has worn the other three away.
