Woman’s horror as huge dinner plate-sized spider invades family home

Laree Clarke returned home to find the eight-legged beast lurking in the corner of her ceiling, ready to take over.

Absolutely terrified, she immediately made a desperate plea on Facebook get the monster arachnid removed from her home in Townsville, Queensland.

She wrote: ‘Is there anyone that could remove this from my house?? Now!???’ she posted accompanied by two photos of the spider hovering in the corner.

“”

“When I went near it with the phone light it came at me raising it fangs and legs. Hell nahhhh!”

Social media users were quick to offer their advice on how to remove the creepy spider, with some suggestions more extreme than others.

One person said: “It’s probably easier to burn your house down at this point.”

‘I encourage you not to take the Mt Isa approach which is deodorant and a lighter as you can burn the house down and make the news,’ one woman wrote.

Another simply added: ”Kill it with fire”.

A third said: “make it pay rent”.

Ms Clarke said she tried removing the spider with a container, but failed as it was the size of an adult’s hand.

Huntsman spiders – which live all around the world – are known for their enormous size and can grow to a leg span size of 10 to 12 inches.

They often venture into Australian homes in a bid to find prey to eat.

The large and hairy huntsman spiders are, despite their appearance, not considered dangerous.

They are venomous and can cause pain with their bites, but experts say they are reluctant to attack and would rather scamper away when feeling threatened.
