A WOMAN allegedly tried to set her boyfriend on fire – because he wouldn't celebrate her new job at a Subway restaurant.

Kathy Jones, 46, had downed Smirnoff Ice and rum drinks when she allegedly sprayed the man with lighter fluid and threw lit matches at him, according to a report.

Jones, of Arizona, was arrested on one count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal damage for the alleged attack on her roommate on December 11.

She told police that although she had no memory of committing the allegations, she did recall being angry that the victim wasn't interested in commending her for her new job.

Charging documents say she drank two Smirnoff Ice drinks and two drinks with rum before she allegedly tried to set the man alight.

Jones is being held on a $15,000 (£11,500) bond.
