Woman ‘shot in the stomach’ in Devon as armed cops scrambled – The Sun
A WOMAN was "shot in the stomach" in an alleged attack that saw armed police storm a street in Devon last night.
Residents alerted cops after hearing a "commotion", with some saying they saw the alleged victim "covered in blood".
The woman, whose age is currently unknown, was rushed to Derriford Hospital following the alleged shooting, which happened in Mantle Gardens, Barne Barton, around 10 pm.
One shocked neighbour told Plymouth Live: "I called the police as I heard a commotion. I went outside and [the woman] said she had been shot in her stomach and was covered in blood. The police took 38 minutes to arrive but when they did they came up the street with guns and head guards.
"They asked me and a neighbour to walk [the woman] to the ambulance with two officers.
"Then we had to come back to our property.
"Then the house was surrounded and the street was full of police cars and police ."
'COVERED IN BLOOD'
Another resident told the news site: "Armed police in Mantle Gardens. Someone's been shot.
"[A woman] went away in an ambulance. The armed police were here a long time. Nobody was found in the property."
No one from Devon and Cornwall Police was available for comment.
However, a duty police sergeant confirmed that armed police had been called.
They told Plymouth Live: "The call came to us at 10 pm. A female has been injured and taken to hospital.
"Further enquiries are being made. It doesn't look like anyone has been arrested at this time.
"This is a live investigation and I can't disclose that [if a firearm was used] information.
"Armed police were called. Enquiries are ongoing."
A spokeswoman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident in Barne Barton, Plymouth at 10.14 pm last night. Two ambulances attended."
