Woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann ‘forced to scoff 35 pills a day’ as a kid

The Polish woman who thinks she might be Madeleine McCann was forced to scoff 35 pills every day from the age of seven, according to a private investigator.

Julia Wendell, 21, sparked an internet storm after sharing supposed evidence to suggest she could be the Leicestershire girl who went missing in Praia da Luz, Portugal, during a family holiday.

Julia was whisked from her home country by private detective and self-professed medium Dr Fia Johansson, who is probing her claims.

She previously claimed she was abused by a German paedophile who resembled a police sketch of a man once suspected in Madeleine's disappearance.

She said her grandmother told her "something" about Madeleine's case, and that she found a photo in her grandmother's house of the man who abused her.

Speaking to RadarOnline, Dr Johansson has revealed further details of the alleged abuse Julia suffered as a child.

She said: "It was 35 pills a day starting from the age of seven – for five years!

"That’s why I’m talking to the doctors about it because 35 pills a day at the age of seven? And today she suffers from recurring nose bleeds and bone aches all over her body. She sometimes breaks down and cries because of the pain.

"The pills could be the cause of all these side effects because she may have been poisoned to make sure she doesn’t remember anything and keeps her mouth shut."

Julia claimed she doesn't remember large chunks of her childhood but does have vague memories of being in a hot place with "white buildings".

Dr Johansson said previously that doctors in the US discovered Julia has a number of health problems and fear she may have leukaemia.

The investigator also travelled to Poland and found there were no hospital records in Wroclaw – the city she supposedly grew up in – relating to the first five years of her life.

This only reaffirmed Julia's suspicion that her age isn't accurate, given that Madeleine would be 19 rather than 21.

Dr Johansson said she is absolutely convinced Julia was trafficked into Poland as a child, regardless of whether or not she's Madeleine.

Julia is awaiting results from three DNA samples as well as a 23andMe-style genetic test that could prove she isn't who she has been told she is her whole life.

Her family in Poland have denied her claims. According to Dr Johansson, her mum and dad have also blocked Julia's number and refused to take a DNA test of their own.
