Wind-driven grass fire southeast of Chatfield State Park is 100% contained.

A wind-driven grass fire along U.S. Highway 85 in Douglas County southeast of Chatfield State Park is 100% contained, according to firefighters.

The Chatridge3 fire burned “dangerously” close to one home and the Chatfield Estates area was put on a pre-evacuation notice because of the Tuesday morning fire, said Eric Hurst, a South Metro Fire Rescue spokesman. There were no injuries reported and no homes were damaged.

Santa Fe Drive has been closed from Chatridge Road to Titan Road, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The two-alarm fire, which burned at least 10 acres, continues to smolder and firefighters are working on putting it completely out, Hurst said.

The fire, on the east side of South Santa Fe Drive, raced through extremely dry grass and vegetation driven by 20 mph wind gusts.
