A CANADIAN politician has been slammed for sharing a picture of his wife shoveling snow after a 12-hour shift at the hospital.
Manitoba cabinet minister Jon Reyes has faced backlash from Twitter users who questioned why he didn't help, making a frontline worker do chores after a long exhausting day at work.
Who is the politician's wife shoveling snow?
The woman in the photo is Cynthia, the wife of politician Jon Reyes.
She works as a nurse.
The pair have two childrenReyna, and Miguel.
After the tweet went viral, she defended her husband by tweeting "All I wanted to do was shovel!"
In a lengthy Facebook post, she later explained that shoveling snow is "a great workout, it allowed me to unwind, it’s refreshing after having worn an N95 mask almost the entire night, the weather was mild and it was quiet and peaceful."

Jon Reyes, is a Manitoba Cabinet minister.
He is a Canadian of Filipino descent.
Reyes has also served in Canadian Military Services.
He is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba and the founder of the Manitoba Filipino Business Council (MFBC).
What has Jon Reyes said about his wife shoveling snow?
On January 8, 2022, Reyes tweeted a photo showing his wife shoveling snow outside their home.
The caption read: “Even after a 12 hour night shift at the hospital last night, my wife still has the energy to shovel the driveway.
“God bless her and all our frontliners. Time to make her some breakfast.”
But the tweet didn't have the response he was expecting with users slamming him for not helping his wife.
One commented: "What was wrong with your hands? Its the utter audacity for me? This whole tweet is ashy and dingy."
Another one said: "Why is this woman expected to shovel a driveway in Canada after a 12 hour shift? Delete this.
One added: "Why didn't YOU do it? And if you legitimately cannot for some reason, why don't you pay someone to do it for you so she can come home to a clean driveway and go straight to bed? What is wrong with you?"
