Pen Farthing, founder of an animal shelter in Afghanistan, has arrived in the UK after rescuing several of his rescue animals from Afghanistan.
In a tweet, Mr Farthing said: “Arrived Heathrow with partial success of #OpArk.
“Mixed emotions & true deep feeling of sadness for Afghan today. Heathrow Ops centre, Border Force, HARC & Air Pets were all bloody amazing.
“Witnessed 1st hand the compassion Heathrow is showing Afghan refugees.”
Who is Pen Farthing?
Paul ‘Pen’ Farthing is a former Royal Marine from Essex, who set up the Nowzad animal shelter in Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul.
Mr Farthing set up the Nowzad shelter after serving in Afghanistan in the mid-2000s.
Mr Farthing has been campaigning to get the animals evacuated from Afghanistan since the country fell to the Taliban earlier this month.
Mr Farthing referred to his plans as Operation Ark.
