Police want a suspected knifeman to get in contact so they can ‘hear his side of the story’ after a woman was stabbed in the stomach.

Cameron Pace, 22, is wanted in connection with a brutal stabbing at a property in Tipton, West Midlands.

Emergency services were called to the address on Friday morning after a woman suffered knife wounds to her stomach and was rushed to hospital.

Later than evening police officers saw the suspect behind the wheel of a Renault Clio in Brick Kiln Lane, Tipton, at around 6pm.

But, as they tried to apprehend him, he rammed their squad car leaving both vehicles damaged before making off on foot.

A wanted appeal has now been issued and West Midlands Police are asking Pace to hand himself in.

Detective Inspector Dave Sproson, from the force’s Public Protection Unit, said: ‘If anyone believes they have seen Cameron Pace, or suspects they know where he is, I’d ask them to get in contact immediately.

‘I would also ask Cameron himself to make contact: we need to speak to him to understand what has happened and to hear his side of the story.’

Anyone who sees Pace is asked to dial 999 or those with information on his whereabouts can dial 101 or Live Chat via WMP Online between 8am and midnight

The female victim did not suffer life threatening injuries and was able to return home later that evening after being treated in hospital.
