The Environment Agency has today released a total of 115 flood notices for the UK.
Of these, 29 are flood “warnings”, which urge immediate action, and 91 are flood “alerts”, which warn of possible flooding.
Five of the notices issued by the Environment Agency are severe flood warnings, which state there is a danger to life from rising floodwaters.
The most severe notices are all located along the River Don in Yorkshire, where they have remained for five days.
According to the Met Office, rainwater could cause a risk to life and cut off communities and essential services such as gas, electricity and mobile phone service.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue declared a major incident last Friday, as it rescued some 40 people from the Fishlake area on the Don.
Doncaster Council Chief executive Damian Allen said concerns remain over people who are still trapped within Fishlake.
He said: “We are concerned over reports that some residents remain in the Fishlake area.”
“South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews are on hand to evacuate any Fishlake residents who may be stuck in their homes, and we would urge everybody to take advantage of this.
“The council are unable to offer on-the-ground support to residents who are in severe flood warning areas, based on advice from the Environment Agency.”
Speaking to the BBC, Doncaster teacher Mark Ibbotson said he and his son had rescued more than 30 people from Bentley, also on the River Don.
One woman died in Derbyshire after being swept into the River Derwent.
