The NYPD has lost another detective to coronavirus.

Det. Stanley Dash, a veteran detective assigned to the 6th Precinct Squad in the West Village, died Saturday from COVID-19, Commissioner Dermot Shea announced on Twitter.

Dash was a member of the force for 21 years.

For decades, “Detective Stanley Dash faithfully served the people of NYC & the NYPD,” Shea tweeted. “This morning, we tragically lost him to complications from #COVID19. Our NYPD family mourns today as we keep Stanley, his family, friends & colleagues in our prayers.”

Detectives’ Endowment Association President Paul DiGiacomo said Dash’s service extended to his fellow detectives, as a former union delegate.

“A deeply caring man, he was there to help everyone,” DiGiacomo said. “Our prayers are with his wife and children who we vow to always support.”

More than 55 officers and civilian NYPD have died of COVID-19.
