A young Ukrainian refugee is fighting for life after she was seemingly targeted in a violent knife attack in County Clare yesterday morning.
The eight-year-old victim remains in critical condition alongside her mother, aged in her mid 40s, who was also found unconscious at the scene at a domestic residence in the village of Clarecastle near Ennis in Ireland.
Gardai launched a major investigation to establish the circumstances of the apparent attack, and specialist investigators were deployed due to the child victim’s young age.
The pair were staying at a centre for refugees who have fled their native land amid the ongoing war with Russia, according to Independent.ie.
Other refugees staying at the centre were moved into emergency accommodation in the centre of Ennis as gardai sealed off the scene of the crime.
The victims were found at the residence in Clarecastle but were rushed to University Hospital Limerick where they were placed in intensive care.
