UK weather: Met Office warns fog and rain to hit today – with showers expected every day this week | The Sun

BRITS are braced for fog and rain today with the Met Office warning that showers are expected to hit the country every day this week.

The forecaster has warned of another "unsettled week" ahead with wet and windy conditions expected in the UK.

A mix of sunshine and showers is expected today with rainfall getting heavier in the west as the day progresses.

The Met Office said the week will get a chilly start early fog occupying the northern areas, which will soon clear to leave way for some sunshine.

Eastern areas are expected to see a fine day but showers can get thundery and widespread in the west, while south will remain breezy.

Meteorologists added: "Scattered showers will affect northern and western areas overnight.

"Elsewhere it will be mostly dry with clear spells, allowing a few mist and fog patches to form by the morning."

“For most places, it is a dry day with reasonable sunshine around – even though those showers are quite heavy they will move quite quickly and not hang around for very long,” Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge said.

Tomorrow's weather will see "another day of sunshine and showers".

Mr Partridge added: "The one thing that is an area that we are keeping an eye on is that there is a further band of rain that pushes across the whole of the UK on Wednesday.

"It will see wet and windy weather on Wednesday moving across all parts of the UK, with some locally heavy rain.

“By then we would have had three solid days where river levels could have recovered so hopefully by then things will not be quite as sensitive as they are now."

And the soggy conditions show no sign of stopping later this week with "blustery" showers expected on Thursday, says the Met Office.

However, showers should be easing on Friday according to the forecaster.

It comes as Storm Ciaran brought 104mph hurricane winds and an amber warning of danger to life from the Met Office.
