UK weather forecast – Dry but bitterly cold thanks to -5C Nordic winds this weekend ahead of feared Easter washout
SUNNY spells but bitterly cold temperatures are in store from today and over this weekend – before a feared Easter washout threatens glum holiday weather.
Spring is still yet to set in across Britain as thermometers struggle to reach double figures today due to bitter Nordic winds.
While most will see pleasant spells of sunshine, temperatures may only reach meagre highs of just 8C in parts over the coming days.
And at night, the mercury could drop to as low as -5C.
The Met Office's Aiden McGivern said: "It's no Beast from the East but it's fairly cold for April.
"A few degrees below normal for the time of year."
Brian Gaze, meteorologist for The Weather Outlook, told The Sun Online: "Daytime temperatures will be below average and nights are likely to be particularly cold for mid April with widespread frosts.
“Temperatures could dip down to -5C locally, for example in the Welsh valleys on Saturday and Sunday morning."

After opening spells of sunshine today, there will be an increased chance of light showers for central and southern Scotland to northern and eastern England.
The sunniest spots will be in the west, with temperatures of 10C to 11C in Belfast and Glasgow.
Around the coast there will be highs of just 9C.
The Met Office said: "Temperatures are colder for this time of year. They should be about 13C."
It's looking like we could see a bit of rain over Easter, especially in the western parts of the UK
TEMPERATURES STRUGGLE
On Saturday the mercury will fall to as low as 8C in some places on the east coast due to chilly Scandinavian winds sweeping in.
The warmest parts are likely to be on the west coast.
On Sunday it is forecast to be less sunny but still mainly dry.
There will be some brief spells of rain in the west – especially Cornwall and Northern Ireland.
But although the country will not be basking in warm weather, at least it will be mainly dry.
That cannot be said for the long Easter weekend weather.
Washout conditions are predicted as heavy rain prepares to make the school holidays a misery.
Met Office forecaster Richard Miles said: "It's looking like we could see a bit of rain over Easter, especially in the western parts of the UK.
"While temperatures could be slightly above average for the weekend itself… I wouldn't rule out snow in parts of Scotland".
