Storm trackers have kept their eye on raging storm Ciara, which threatens to bear down this weekend on the back of the jet stream. The storm could send 80mph winds barrelling into the country from the west coast, with lower but still strong winds expected UK-wide.
Where is storm Ciara now?
Storm Ciara is destined to hammer the UK this weekend, as the Met Office lays down a selection of weather warnings for the country.
Currently, the system is looming off the UK’s west coast as a mass of strong wind, due to batter the UK over the next three days.

According to the Met Office, wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph will begin in Scotland this Saturday, with maximums of 80mph over high ground and the coast.
The Met Office has a yellow warning in place from 12pm on February 8 to 11.59pm on the same day.
The wind will likely cause travel disruption in some places, to road, rail and ferry services, with delays for high-sided vehicles.
On February 9 storm Ciara passes over the rest of the UK, and yellow warnings stretch over the whole country.
The Met Office laid down warnings on Sunday from 12am to 11.59pm, as Ciara could pose a threat to life.
Sunday’s warning states wind speeds could reach 80mph in places, carrying debris and whipping up high waves which could cause “injuries and danger to life”.
The agency also warned conditions could cause damage to buildings and power cuts, which threatens to down certain services.
They warned: “Strong winds will be widespread and last throughout much of Sunday.”

“Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are likely across many inland areas and around 70 mph in coastal areas.
“There is a small chance of even stronger winds across parts of Scotland, potentially 70 to 80 mph.
“However, it is currently very uncertain whether the wind will reach this strength here and when this will occur.
“A spell of heavy rain will also affect many regions for a time, making driving conditions particularly poor.”
The wind is also likely to affect travel, with potential delays to ferry, road, rail and air transport.
The Met Office has another three rain warnings for the UK on Sunday, continuing unsettled weather for much of the country.
Warnings are in place from 12am to 9pm on February 9, as 40-60mm (1.5 to 2 inches) of rain could fall “Widely” with isolated totals of 80mm (3 inches) possible.
The Met Office warned the rain could flood homes and businesses, and cause delays to bus and train services.
