Such is the chance of snow for areas of high ground, Exacta Weather’s James Madden labelled levels as “significant”. He added widespread frost is expected for multiple areas of the country as we move towards Bonfire Night. Due to the bitter weather front, Mr Madden claimed the UK will be set for a “wintry end” to autumn.

He said: “We could start to see some significant snow events over higher ground.

“Looking to Bonfire Night and there will be a risk of widespread frosts as we get a taste of some early wintry conditions.

“We are about to see a change in the weather paving the way for cold and wintry end to autumn.”

As shown by graphs by forecaster WXCharts, temperatures are set to plummet on November 5.

London is set to fall to 2C (35.6F) in the morning as many wake to a widespread frost.

Most areas of the south of England will also see the mercury fall to 2C while temperatures in Wales will range from 2-4C (35-39F).

In the north of England, temperatures will be slightly warmer with charts showing a range between 4-5C (39-41F).

In Scotland, multiple areas will see 4C although the mercury will rise to 8C (46F) later in the day.

Looking further ahead into this month, charts are predicting further snowfall for certain areas of the country.

On November 18, charts show parts of north Scotland may see up to 15cm (150mm) of snowfall.

The Met Office’s long-range forecasts predict temperatures well below average for the time of year due to the cold blast.

This weather front will also increase the chance of wintry showers.

For the period between November 16-30, the forecast said: “Temperatures set to be slightly below average overall throughout this period with an increased likelihood of wintry showers from the north and northwest at times.

“These showers are most likely over high ground with low risk of them reaching lower levels later in the month.

“Less windy than the previous week, with stormy conditions much less likely than usual.

“Little evidence to suggest any prolonged widespread settled conditions as often areas of cloud, rain and showers will be around.

“Any clear spells that do occur give way to frost and fog as expected for the time of year.

“Overall remaining drier than average.”
