Tyre flies off lorry and smashes into pregnant mum’s car outside McDonald’s
A tyre flew off a lorry and landed on a pregnant mum’s car as she ate at a McDonald’s, in a dramatic near-miss.
Alex Turrell, 29, was sat inside the restaurant with her four-year-old daughter Matilda in Tamworth, Staffordshire, on October 30.
The lorry was driving across a roundabout next to the Ventura Retail Park drive-through branch before the wheel came off and lodged itself between two cars.
Alex, who is six months pregnant, told Birmingham Live: "I had taken my four-year-old to McDonald’s and was sat inside eating when the manager asked me what car I drove.
"She said I needed to go outside as soon as possible as something had happened to it."
"When I got outside the man in the car next to mine said he was sat in his car eating and a lorry went round Ventura Island and his wheel came flying off and wedged itself between our cars.
"The driver didn’t stop but might not have even realised what happened.
"I could not even open the driver’s door.

"Luckily my dad managed to drive it home for me."
Alex, from nearby Grendon, posted on social media: "I was at McDonald’s Tamworth just after 5pm tonight when a lorry went round Ventura island and its wheel came flying off and hit my car and as you can see has caused a lot of damage.
"We are OK. I am just so glad no-one was hurt and we weren’t in the car at the time as I’m six months pregnant and I had my four-year-old with me."
