Two men arrested over deaths of three teens killed in St Paddy's Day disco crush at hotel
TWO men have today been arrested over the deaths of three teens killed at a hotel disco.
Lauren Bullock and Morgan Barnard, both 17 and Connor Currie, 16, died in a stampede as a huge crowd attempted to push their way into Greenvale Hotel in Northern Ireland.
Police said two men, aged 40 and 52, are tonight being held on suspicion of corporate manslaughter.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said: "Detectives from PSNI major investigation team investigating the deaths of three teenagers at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on Saint Patrick's Day have arrested two men aged 52 and 40 earlier today, Tuesday 19 March, on suspicion of manslaughter.
"They are currently in custody."
Tributes have been placed outside the hotel all day, and eyewitnesses have described scenes of chaos on the night of the deaths.
Eimear Tallon has described how she was queuing for the disco when the crowd begun to build.
She wrote: "The people on the outside of this line were so determined to get in they felt the need to not only push us against the wall but push with all their strength.
"No matter how much we screamed and pushed back, there was no movement.
"Two of my friends fell to the ground. I tried to pull them up but at that point there was no room for them to even come back up.
"So I started screaming at the top of my lungs."
She wrote she thought her friends would die in the panic, before she too fell to the floor.
The teenager added: "But the thing about me was that I wasn't on the ground, I was on top of someone else. It was the most traumatic, frightening and stressful moment of my life.
"People were scratching, biting and grabbing anything they could to pull themselves up to breathe.
"I think that's what really shows the seriousness of it all, people were literally fighting for their lives."
