Trump travel ban keeps Yemeni mother from seeing dying son in US
The US State Department is yet to respond to several requests for a waiver, including by CAIR.
Two-year-old Abdullah Hassan is dying in a California hospital, but his Yemeni mother cannot travel to the United States to say goodbye to him. The Trump administration’s travel ban on the citizens of five Muslim-majority countries is preventing her from joining her husband who is accompanying the infant for the treatment of a rare brain disease.
Despite several requests to issue a waiver, including by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the US State Department is yet to respond.
Al Jazeera’s Mike Hanna reports from Washington, DC.
