Trump confirms ISIS leader al-Baghdadi dead following US strike – ‘Whimpering and crying’

President Trump, speaking from the White House, revealed al-Baghdadi killed himself as the US raided the area where he was hiding in northern Syria. Providing further details, the US President confirmed al-Baghdadi killed himself by igniting his suicide vest. Eleven children were injured. 

The US President said al-Baghdadi died “like a dog” and “like a coward”.

US military were in the compound for two hours and no US personnel were lost in the operation, the US President added.

President Trump said he died in a “vicious and violent way” and “crying”.

His concluded his announcement by saying “the world is a much safer place”.

Al-Baghdadi took over the leadership of ISIS in April 2010 and led the terror group in devastation huge areas across Syria and Iraq in 2014-15.

Earlier reports had emerged from US military sources they had “high confidence” al-Baghdadi’s death “pending verification” after the US launched raids in northwestern Syria.

The raid in the early hours of Sunday involved helicopters, warplanes and ground clashes in the village of Barisha in Syria’s Idlib province bordering Turkey, a commander of a militant faction in the region said.

The attacking US forces removed the body of Baghdadi, and that of another man believed to be his deputy, the commander added.

According to Fox News’ National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin, a senior US military source said: “We long suspected Baghdadi was hiding in Idlib.”
