Trump brands Meghan Markle ‘nasty’ setting up awkward meeting with Royals during UK visit

“What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty”

The startling comment comes as Mr Trump gears up for a three-day visit to the UK on Monday.

But, the trip could prove to be a cringe-worthy occasion for the brash president who is booked to meet the Queen, Prince Charles and – awkwardly– Meghan’s hubby, Prince Harry, at Buckingham Palace.

Admitting he had no idea that Meghan wouldn’t be there to meet him, The Donald also appeared taken aback when told about comments the former Suits star made about him several years ago.

Speaking on a US talk show, 37-year-old Meghan admitted she would be voting for Democrat Hilary Clinton.

She said: “It’s really the moment I go (Trump winning the election). We film Suits in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada.

“You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hilary (Clinton). Yes, you’re voting because she’s a woman, but certainly, because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting.”

Startled to learn that Meghan had openly called him out, Mr Trump was – for once – lost for words.

He told The Sun: “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”

But, Mr Trump, 72, later praised Meghan and said he was pleased there was an American princess.

He added: “It’s nice, and I’m sure she will do excellently. She will be very good. I hope she does succeed.”

Trump is reportedly very excited to return to the UK and is bringing all of his adult children with him.

He reportedly wants Ivanka, Tiffany, Eric and Donald Jnr to hold a “next generation” meeting with Prince William and Harry.
