Transgender prisoner busted for having boozy sex with female inmate in cell
A transgender prisoner has been busted for having an alcohol-fuelled romp with a female prisoner.
The lag is currently serving a murder sentence at HMP Bronzefield – a female prison – despite having male genitalia.
The unnamed 43-year-old was drunk on “illegal home brew”, The Mirror reports, and ended up with a younger inmate in their cell.
Officials then found the pair having “consensual” sex – which prompted an investigation.
The transgender inmate has now been moved to HMP Downview, which has a separate transgender wing.
A source from the prison told The Mirror: “The bosses are trying to keep it hush, hush. But everyone is talking about it. The girl she had sex with has moved to another block, but told people what happened.
“There’s an investigation into how they got alcohol and how it all happened. It’s gone all the way to the governor.
“A lot of women in that prison are troubled and vulnerable. Things like this shouldn’t be happening. This inmate had free rein to move around, mingling with the other women, even though she had her functioning male parts.
"This is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that male sexual predators are allowed to declare themselves as female and allowed to transfer to female prisons.”
The private company running the prison is Sodexo.
On its website, the prison is described as a “forward-thinking women’s prison with a diverse population of women”.
They add: “We provide phones in each room, a 17-bed healthcare facility, a care and separation unit and a mother and baby unit for 12 women.”
They also give an insight into how prisoners are treated at the site.
The “life in prison” section details the “regime” followed by all inmates.
It states: “To maintain a stable and safe environment for the women where they can focus on rehabilitation and plan for their future, the women follow a ‘regime’.
“We offer a variety of employment opportunities across the prison including catering and barista work, hair and beauty salon, gym, peer workers, chaplaincy orderlies, cleaning, arts workshops and more.
A spokesman for Sodexo said: “We do not comment on individuals.
“We can confirm that we have received a report of inappropriate conduct and have taken the necessary immediate steps.”
The Daily Star has contacted the Ministry of Justice for comment.
