Tragic dad-of-two crushed to death at Tata Steelworks pictured

A worker who was killed in a machinery accident at the Tata steelworks in Port Talbot has been named as a dad-of-three.

Justin Day, 44, from Swansea, died from his injuries at the south Wales plant shortly before 2pm on Wednesday, prompting an immediate investigation by the steel firm.

Friends of the contractor, who worked for Mii Engineering in Caerphilly, have left tributes to him on a fundraising page set up to support his wife of 17 years, Zoe, and their two teenage sons.

A message on the GoFundMe page said: "Zoe and her family are the most amazing people I've ever met, so kind and would do anything for anyone.

"Justin tragically passed away in his workplace in an awful accident, I know Zoe would never ask anyone for any help at all but would help anyone, please spare anything you can for her and her family to help them through this tough time.

"Money will never replace their loss but will most definitely help them to keep a roof over their heads and help towards the funeral costs."

Friend Wayne Sayce wrote on the page: "This family is close friends of ours who wouldn't wish harm on anyone r.i.p mate."

South Wales Police described the accident as an "isolated incident" and said it is liaising with the Health and Executive Executive, while Tata Steel said it has launched an investigation.
