Tiny dog wanders onto half-frozen pond and is rescued by heroic firefighters
A tiny pup has been rescued from a frozen pond after she slipped her collar while being transported to a rescue organisation.
Spring, a shih tzu, accidentally wandered into the partially iced-over pond in Lake County, Ohio.
She'd just been rescued from a puppy mill in Indiana and was on her way to New York when the transport vehicle stopped for a break outside of Mentor and she somehow got loose.
While the rescue transport had to keep going to New York with the rest of the dogs, they contacted local shih tzu foster Care Hupp to see if she could find the pooch.

Hupp was also given Spring's sister Dawn as the two are a bonded pair.
On Sunday morning Hupp received reports that Spring had been sighted, and she arrived at the scene to find the dog had walked onto a half-frozen pond and gotten stuck.
Thankfully two heroic firefighters responded to the call, leaping into the water and paddling between sheets of ice to reach the terrified dog.
Footage taken of the rescue shows Spring jumping joyfully into the firefighters' arms.
"Chandon FD personnel were happy to go out on the ice to help out this furry friend (this) morning on Little Mountain Road," Chardon Fire Department said in a statement.
"Happy Endings", it added.
It took Spring a day or two to recover from her frightening experience, but Hupp told Inside Edition she's "actually really coming around, asking for rubs and pets".
She added: "She doesn't seem shaken at all any more."
Hupp is continuing to take care of Spring and Dawn until they find a permanent home. Her other pets, including a miniature poodle named Ginger, are helping them acclimatise and feel comfortable around humans.
Spring and Daisy will be available for adoption from the Shih Tzus & Furbabies Small Breed Rescue in January next year.
