TikTok plastic surgeon banned from medicine ‘for livestreaming harmful ops’

A famous TikTok plastic surgeon has been banned from practising after live-streaming botched surgeries.

Dr Katharine Roxanne Grawe was popular on social media for oddly livestreaming some of her gory procedures.

But questions were raised when it became apparent that she was more interested in answering viewer questions mid-surgery rather than looking after the person she was slicing up.

And despite being told already by her bosses in Ohio, Texas to stop doing it – and being sent official warnings – she continued to do so.

During a hearing this week, they was told how a patient who had liposuction, Brazilian butt lift and a skin-tightening procedure was rushed to hospital a week later with staff finding “free air” in her abdomen.

She was also found to have lost brain function because her liver was damaged.

Another patient suffered infection and damage to her abdomen and will now be impacted for life.

As a result of her continuation to live-stream, and other issues suffered by patients, she has now been stripped of her medical licence, with one of her patients being awarded around £350,000 in compensation.

A spokesman for the Ohio Medical Board said: “This case isn't about some antiquated view of social media.

“These patients trusted Dr. Roxy because of what they saw on social media. She made major surgeries with potentially life-altering complications seem like one big party.”

After the ruling, the now ex-doctor appeared to take ownership of her actions.

She admitted that she was trying to “break down the “stiff and scary wall between patients and practitioners,” adding: “As I stand here today, I see how many of those silly videos seemed unprofessional.

“I understand how my actions at times seemed careless and offended my patients and colleagues.”

Upon suspensions, she was also ruled as being “a danger of immediate and serious harm to the public”.
