  • Throughout the summer, thugs had also been dumping animal parts on her land
  • She said the actions have ‘upset the whole local Muslim community’

A woman has said she is scared of what will happen next after a pig’s head was tied to her field’s gate in an attempt to ‘intimidate [the] local Muslim community’.

Rema Ince, from Redruth, Cornwall, owns a field in nearby Crofthandy which she inherited from her grandfather, and over recent months has made the grim discoveries at the site she hoped would provide a warm memory of him.

However, after discovering the animal’s head along with animal parts thrown onto the land by thugs, her family’s property has become ‘tainted’ by the horrific experiences.

The deeply concerned Rema said: ‘It’s been going on for a while and the harassment has got so bad a pig’s head was tied to the gate.

‘All summer animal parts were being thrown onto the field. It seems somebody doesn’t like me, it really is absolutely disgusting.

‘We started finding pigs’ trotters. I sent my dad up there. He is a Muslim and ever since he went up there it’s just got worse.

‘My dad grew up in Middle-East conflict so he does not like confrontation and this has upset him. No doubt it will upset the whole local Muslim community.’

She added: ‘The pig’s head being chained to the gate is beyond belief. It’s terrifying, intimidating and we don’t know what’s going to happen next. I inherited the field from my grandfather and wanted it to be a place to remember him but now it’s just tainted.

‘I used to let my dog off the lead there but can’t now as he’ll just got and sniff out and pick up the pig remains. My two-year-old can’t go and run around. It’s all very sad and we’re very worried.’

The incidents has left Rema and her family ‘worried’ as they wonder what might happen next

Cornwall Council were made aware of the matter due to environmental concerns.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that initially no further action was taken against a suspect, but that decision is currently subject of the victim’s right to review.
