Thug said ‘die b***h’ as he ‘strangled new girlfriend to death’ over broken vape

A US man has been charged with murder after he confessed to murdering his girlfriend over a broken vape cartridge.

Daniel Padilla-Ang, 27, allegedly told officers that he strangled 20-year-old Sandra Robles to death at a property in Utah on Saturday (March 26).

According to the affidavit, Padilla-Ang sent two text messages to family telling them he had killed Ms Robles, whom he had only been dating for four months.

He also began drinking shots of alcohol before allegedly calling the police himself to confess to killing her.

Describing the incident in the affidavit, Padilla-Ang told police that Ms Robles grabbed a broken vape and when he tried to take it from her, she hit him.

He grabbed her by the neck with his right hand and “started to choke her'' and allegedly told police he did not stop but became more violent when the victim fell to the ground.

The affidavit reads: “The female victim then went to the ground, where Daniel stated he punched her in the face, and then started to choke her with both of his hands.”

“Daniel stated that as he was choking her he said ‘die b***h’ until she was no longer moving.”

Padilla-Ang was already under probation for a domestic violence incident at the time of Ms Robles' death.

He had a history of domestic violence stretching back to 2015, according to court records.

Padilla-Ang served just five days behind bars after a 2015 conviction in Provo County for domestic violence. .

He then struck a plea deal after prosecutors in Orem County charged him with domestic violence in 2017.

Prosecutors agreed to drop the domestic violence charge if Padilla-Ang entered a guilty plea to a criminal mischief charge, resulting in a 90-day suspended sentence.

Judge James Brady said he is now being held without bail after he found him to be a flight risk.

The judge wrote: “The court finds substantial evidence to support the charge and finds by clear and convincing evidence that Daniel Padilla-Ang would constitute a substantial danger to any other individual or the community, or is likely to flee the jurisdiction of the court if released on bail.”
