‘The Good Fight’ Says Goodbye To Original Cast Member Rose Leslie
‘Legacies’ Season Two To Add Thomas Doherty As Potential Lizzie Love Interest
What’s old is new again – especially if you’re an old vampire who looks young. The Legacies Comic-Con panel confirmed that adage today, as Thomas Doherty was announced as appearing in The CW drama’s second season.
Doherty, a Scottish actor best known for his role as Harry Hook in the Disney Channel’s Descendants 2 and Descendants 3 films, will likely have some designs on Lizzie, the witch who has dallied with werewolf Rafael and vampire MG in season one. The Comic-Con panel confirmed that MG will be “moving on” in the coming season, so there is an opening.
Legacies is a spin-off of The Originals and features characters from both that series and its predecessor, The Vampire Diaries. The series stars Danielle Rose Russell as 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson, descended from some of the most powerful vampire, werewolf and witch bloddlines. She attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where fellow supernaturals learn to hone their skills.
The CW renewed the series for a second season in January and will return it on October 10.
‘Supergirl’ To Bid Farewell To Original Cast Member Mehcad Brooks
Supergirl is losing an ex-boyfriend, as Mehcad Brooks, aka James Olsen, will be leaving The CW series in the first half of its coming Season 5.
No details were available on how original cast member Brooks will exit the show, but he’s allegedly leaving on his own terms to focus on feature films and a potential cable show. The show producers left the door ajar for a cameo down the road in their statement announcing his departure.
“We love Mehcad and we’re sad to see him leave the show as as a series regular, but we’re excited for both Mehcad and James Olsen’s future,” said a statement from the show producers. “He’ll always be a part of our Supergirl family and we look forward to James returning to National City at some point to visit his sister and his super friends.”
Brooks played the role of Superman’s best friend and the ex-boyfriend of Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl. He worked as a photojournalist at the Daily Planet, then moved on to become the art director at CatCo Worldwide Media in National City, rising to CEO of that company. He also found time to fight for truth and justice as the super vigilante Guardian.
Brooks’ previous TV credits include Necessary Roughness, True Blood, The Game and Desperate Housewives. Supergirl Season 5 opens Sunday, Oct. 6 at 9 PM ET.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge is upholding the Trump administration’s expansion of cheaper short-term health insurance plans as an alternative to the Affordable Care Act’s costlier comprehensive insurance.
US District Court Judge Richard J. Leon in Washington, DC, ruled Friday that the potential downside of expanding short-term plans is “minimal” and “benefits are undeniable” for some consumers. He found that the Trump administration had the legal authority to issue rules last year making the plans more attractive to customers.
Where available, the plans now are good for up to 12 months and may be renewed for 36 months. But they don’t have to cover people with pre-existing conditions or provide basic benefits like prescription drugs.
The Association for Community Affiliated Plans, an insurer group that sued the administration, plans to appeal.
Health and Human Services’ Alex Azar called the ruling “a clear victory” for patients.

‘The Good Fight’ Says Goodbye To Original Cast Member Rose Leslie
Bid a fond farewell to Rose Leslie, aka lawyer Maia Rindell on the CBS All Access drama The Good Fight. After three seasons of order in the court, she’s not returning for Season 4.
TVLine broke the story out of Comic-Con after speaking to series creators Robert and Michelle King, who told the media outlet that Season 3’s finale was Leslie’s swan song. In that episode, she was sent to Washington, DC to launch a new firm with Michael Sheen’s Roland Blum.
The series has shifted in its tone from its original straight legal drama, and Leslie joins fellow originals Justin Bartha and Erica Tazel as the victims of that pivot.
Leslie is married to Game of Thrones hero Kit Harington. Now, both are hitting the bricks and looking for work.
The Good Fight‘s 10-episode fourth season will arrive next year.
