Teen girl airlifted to hospital after being crushed underneath flipped quadbike

A teenage girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a horror accident left her crushed underneath a flipped quadbike.

Two ambulance teams and CareFlight rushed to the scene at the Upper Colo Reserve campsite, near Sydney, Australia, at around 12.40pm on Sunday, April 25, after the 15-year-old became pinned underneath a 4WD buggy when it upturned.

She was treated at the scene for pelvic and arm injuries before being taken to Westmead Children's Hospital and is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

After she was freed, CareFlight's specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedics performed a clinical assessment on the patient, including an ultrasound, and administered pain relief.

NSW Ambulance inspector Joe Ibrahm said: "The young patient suffered serious pelvic and arm injuries and was flown in the care of the Careflight specialist medical team to Westmead Children's Hospital.

"It's always confronting when treating a young patient but our paramedics did an excellent job in difficult circumstances.

"This is a timely reminder that circumstances can change quickly and we encourage those enjoying off-road activities to take all necessary safety precautions."

In a post on Facebook, Careflight wrote: "A 15-year-old girl was trapped by a 4WD buggy earlier this afternoon on a private property in Upper Colo when the vehicle upturned and she was pinned underneath it. The teenager sustained crush injuries to her hips and arms.
