Teen froze to death after being kicked out of house over cannabis row
A teenager who froze to death after he fell asleep at a park had been kicked out of his home by his dad following a row over a car crash and drugs, a court heard.
Lyndon Turner, 19, tragically died near Chobham Common, Surrey during the afternoon of December 2, 2020.
An inquest heard Lyndon had been involved in a minor traffic collision on December 1, causing damage to the front of the family car.
Lyndon’s dad had believed the teen was using cannabis at the time of the crash, causing an argument to break out.
Woking Coroners Court heard evidence from Lyndon’s dad, who said he told his son he wasn’t welcome at home, but believed he had somewhere else to stay.
The inquest was told it was not possible to establish where Lyndon went before he arrived at Chobham Common, Surrey.
Assistant coroner Karen Henderson said she had seen texts between Lyndon and his sister, which indicated that he was unhappy with his father’s decision.
Woking Coroner's Court heard paramedics had worked hard to try and save Lyndon's life but he was pronounced dead just before 6pm on December 2.

Toxicology analysis could not determine whether cannabis use was a factor in Lyndon’s death, but it did show "frequent or chronic use of cannabis."
Dr Henderson said hypothermia was a significant factor in the death and formally recorded Lyndon's death by way of misadventure.
She said: "I accept the cause of death provided by the pathologist to the court as ketoacidosis complicating hypothermia.

"I am satisfied on the balance of probabilities that Lyndon was a regular user of cannabis, that there were some difficulties with his family circumstances and due to a recent car accident, and concerns of his father that he had been using cannabis, that he was asked not to remain at home.
"Sadly, he did not choose to find somewhere else to live.
"I am satisfied he found himself in Chobham Common on the night of December 1, 2020, that he fell asleep during that period of time, and given the time of year it resulted in significant hypothermia which is directly causative of his death."
