Teen carried out of club ‘paralysed’ after being ‘stabbed with date rape needle’

A teenage girl claims she was left 'paralysed' after allegedly being stabbed in the arm with a date rape needle.

Shayna Karniewicz was celebrating her 18th birthday at the Universal Bar in Perth, Western Australia, on Friday when she claimed someone grabbed her arm and injected her with a syringe.

Security camera footage shown on 9News captured the moment the teen was allegedly stabbed.

She was later carried out semi-conscious while holding onto a security guard for support before an ambulance arrived.

Shayna told Perth Now about her horrifying ordeal.

"I could see everything around me. I could hear everything around me but I could not move a muscle," she said.

The teenager believes she was stabbed with a needle filled with the drug Rohypnol or GHB soon after she, her sister and her friends arrived at the bar around 11pm.

She explained: "I felt a scratch and then a needle shoot in me and I felt burning in my arm

"When I yanked my arm away there was a blood spot."

CCTV footage also shows the moment she was allegedly jabbed in the arm as she walked towards the toilet.

Shayna can be seen touching her arm but there are no clear signs of an attack.

Her sister Miki, who found her slumped on the floor after passing out, wrote on Facebook describing the aftermath of the incident.

She wrote: "Shay started to feel numb and her eyes started shaking. The staff and manager came in and called the ambulance.

"We stood her up with her arm around me and as she went to take a step she passed out cold hitting her head on the tiles, not regaining consciousness for 30 seconds.

"We carried her out the back and sat her down where we waited for an ambulance. She had to be held up by two people.

"One holding her head, one holding her body straight."

Shayna was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where she spent eight hours recovering and undergoing tests.

Owners of the Universal Bar are investigating the incident while police are aware of a possible 'serial attacker' in the area after two other people were taken to hospital complaining about similar incidents.
