A teacher beheaded in Paris for showing a cartoon of nude Prophet Mohammed to his French class has been pictured for the first time.
Samuel Paty, 47, was said to be "concerned for his safety" in the days leading up to his gruesome killing.
The teacher was beheaded after he showed a cartoon of nude Prophet Mohammed to his class in a French school.
His killer has been identified a Aboulakh A, an 18-year-old Russian national of Chechen origin, who was killed by French police in the Paris suburb of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.
Aboulakh was gunned down after he posted a video on Twitter of Mr Paty's decapitated head.
He was heard shouting Allahu Akbar – Arabic for God is the greatest – in the video.
On Saturday October 17, less than 24 hours after the attack, nine people, including members of Aboulakh A’s immediate family were placed in custody.
A father of a pupil at the Bois-d'Aulne college where Mr Paty worked was included in those apprehended.
He had reportedly posted a YouTube video calling for people to complain about Mr Paty’s behaviour in class.
The father in question is said to have called Mr Paty a “thug" in the video, which has now been taken down.
Anti-terrorist police are linking the photo with the attack on Mr Paty and have suggested radical Islamism as a possible motive.

France has been the target of several terrorist attacks since thousands of Chechen refugees, including many devout Muslims, entered France in the early 2000s.
The single deadliest terrorist attack ever in the country came in November 2015 when 130 people were killed in Paris.
Suicide bombers pledging allegiance to ISIS targeted the Stade de France, cafés, restaurants and the Bataclan music venue, where 90 died.
In July 2016, 86 people were killed and more than 400 injured when a 19-tonne truck was deliberately driven into crowds on the seafront promenade at Nice, in the South of France.
